چکیده
Cardiac Surgical Services in Europe are provided in a large number of centres. In the UK eleven hospitals currently perform cardiac surgery in children, none with a caseload of more than 500 patients per year. Many of the operations we perform are relatively uncommon and have implications for anaesthetic management. This makes it difficult for the individual anaesthetists or anaesthetic groups to refer to a wide previous experience in the management of some specific conditions. Finding ways to work more closely between units, pooling data and collaborative research gives us an opportunity to make use of a larger collective experience.
